Fit for A King

Hey Girls!

What are some of the secret food places you know?

Growing up in a food paradise means having plenty of time for treasure hunting.

These days, friends have been taking me to a myriad of esoteric joints, some new, some old, all incredibly tasty. Is restaurant-hunting the way we bourgeoisie distinguish ourselves? If so then I have an outstanding bunch of mates.

21 years into the game and I've not discovered half the culinary gems of Singapore. Very important to have a few golden eateries up your sleeve to whip out and impress on social events! I wonder how many good restaurants, cafes and Kopitiams are out there, nondescript, stars under a bucket.

On occasion, I like to eat hearty food like this:

There are platters, and then there are PLATTERS- Trays that turn you into an animal. Furry and I gorged ourselves with their delicious meat and seafood sets, fit for kings. It was just huge! Roast potatoes, vegetables, cinamon apples, ribs and cod, thrown into a silver plate and served hot to you...

This is it: The King Louis

Perched grandly on roof of Vivo city, The King Louis promises a royal feast. The setting was modern yet rustic, with sleek table tops yet Baroque-style chairs and flat screen TV's playing the middle ages war shows. The place is caged within beautiful glass windows, so diners can enjoy scenic views of the Vivo boardwalk and harbour. If you've cinched a reservation, you may even catch the magnificent display of RWS fireworks on weekends! Meanwhile, enjoy the cosy interior and live music by their talented in-house musician.

The platter above was the Queen Victoria 2-3pax (Meat & Seafood) platter: Roasted beef with black pepper sauce, Premium BBQ baby back ribs, Pan Seared snapper with wasabi mayo sauce, Oven Baked King Prawns with melted Australian cheese, Sauteed scallop with garlic & wine sauce.

Among our favourite dishes were the pumpkin soup, the chicken salad and the meat platter. I'd recommend the 2-3 person platter for a family of four. It's that big.

As for drinks, ask for SOMETHING SPECIAL and SEX ON THE BOARDWALK. The former is their own secret recipe, great refreshing fruity taste. The latter had a stronger alcohol content, if you roll like that!I had the SOMETHING SPECIAL, Furry had the SEX ON THE BOARDWALK. Both equally satisfying :P

See drink in hand:

Chipped tooth medieval decor!
